During your maintenance period, they are located at Downloads -> Older versions in the customer area, if you are logged in to your customer account.

You should be able to find the installation files and keys of the two last major versions there.

None of our applications depend on Java Spring or any other Java library and are thus not affected by this vulnerability.

All of our products are being developed in Delphi or C#. Although we use Spring4D(elphi) with some of the components, they are safe to use, because the reported vulnerability applies to Java Spring framework only.

This applies to all versions and editions of our applications (TreeSize, SpaceObServer, SpaceObServer WebAccess, HeavyLoad, SmartPOP2Exchange, Exchange Server Toolbox, SpamAssassin in a Box, SpamAssassin for Windows, SmartCallMonitor, SEPA-Transfer, ServerSentinel, and ShellBrowser). It is recommended to always use the latest available versions though to benefit from the latest patches, improvements, and features.

When installing SmartCallMonitor, you can choose to register it for calling numbers that you click in the browser. The final installation page shows a checkbox for this and is enabled by default.

Check the event log of the Exchange Server Toolbox or the Windows Event Viewer under Windows Logs | Application for the following message:

"The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel"

If this is present, you can fix the problem this way:

  1. Press "Windows+R" and open "gpedit.msc".
  2. Navigate to Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Network | SSL Configuration Settings
  3. In the right pane, select "SSL Cipher Suite Order" and then click "Edit policy setting" in the center
  4. Select "Enabled" in the new window

You can now copy the contents of the text box under Options | SSl Encryption Collections into a text document. Append the following keys at the end:

  • TLS_DHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256
  • TLS_DHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384

Follow the editing instructions in the right part of the window under "Help".

Then copy the text back into the text box and press "Apply" to save the settings. For the changes to be applied, you must restart the server.

All of our products are being developed in Delphi or C#. Although we use Log4Net with some of the components, they are safe to use, because the reported vulnerability applies to Log4J only.

None of our applications depend on Log4J or any other Java library and are thus not affected by this vulnerability.

  • If the Fritz!Box is accessed by SmartCallMonitor through a different network (f.ex if the connection is routed through a firewall), the softphone must be configured accordingly. Please check in the Fritz!Box settings, whether in "Telephony->Telephony Devices->[Your Softphone Name]->Login Data" the option "Allow login from the internet" is checked.
  • In some cases the Fritz!Box needs a restart for the softphone to be accessible. Please try to restart the Fritz!Box and as soon as it is ready, restart your computer.

You can register SmartCallMonitor as a phone with your Fritz!Box, and then make phone calls e.g. with a headset. Following steps are necessary:

  1. Create an IP phone in the Fritz!Box configuration user interface.
  2. Start SmartCallMonitor and go to "Tools->Settings". In the opening settings dialog, navigate to "Telephony->SIP".
  3. Check the "Activate SIP" setting at the top.
  4. In section "Add SIP Account": Enter "username" and "login password" that you have chosen in step 1. As server address "fritz.box" will suffice in cases, where the Fritz!Box is reachable on this address, otherwise enter its IP address.
  5. If different from your Windows default settings, configure the audio devices that you would like to use for conducting calls in the section "SIP Audio Settings".
  6. Confirm the settings dialog. SmartCallMonitor will try to establish a connection for the SIP account. If the connection succeeded, the line will be listed in the main window in the "Switchboard" view. You can now use the line to receive and make calls.

If the line is not visible, please consider this article: https://knowledgebase.jam-software.com/7520

When SmartCallMonitor suddenly stops to monitor calls, it oftentimes helps to restart the SmartCallMonitor service. You can follow these steps to do so:

  • Open the Windows services panel in "Control Panel -> System and Security -> Administrative Tools -> Services".
  • Scroll down the list until you find the entry named "SmartCallMonitorService".
  • Click the entry with the right mouse button and select "Restart".

Most of the time the problem here is that the operating system does not load all required components fast enough. The following steps may resolve the issue:

  • Disable Windows 10 fast startup. (Hint: This setting is not available in some Windows 10 versions.)
    • In the Windows Control Panel navigate through "System and Security" to "Power Options".
    • Select on the left side the option "Choose what the power buttons do".
    • At the top, click the link "Change settings that are currently unavailable".
    • At the bottom, uncheck the box "Turn on fast boot" and save the settings with the button "Save changes".
  • In the Windows Services view, change the start type of the service "SmartCallMonitorService" to "Automatic (Delayed)"..

Hint: If you want to start and receive calls in the software, refer to the following article instead: https://knowledgebase.jam-software.de/7519

If you want to use call monitoring with a Fritz!Box, follow these steps:

  • Make sure that SmartCallMonitor can communicate with the device. On a telephone, which is connected to the Fritz!Box, dial the character string "#96*5*" (without quotation marks). This opens port 1012 on the device and enables applications to read from it. If you want to close the port again, you can use "#96*4*".
  • Configure the Fritz!Box in the Fritz!Box dashboard.
    • Enable the setting "Home Network->Home Network Overview->Allow access for applications".
    • Disable setting "Additionally confirm execution of certain settings and functions" in "System->Fritz!Box-Users->Login".
    • In the Fritz!Box settings make sure, that in "System->Fritz!Box-Users" the user rights are set correctly for the user that SmartCallMonitor will use to log on to the Fritz!Box. To ensure complete functionality, the following settings must be enabled for the user:
      • Enable access from the internet
      • Fritz!Box Settings
      • Voice Messages, Fax Messages, Fritz!App Fon and Call Log
      • Smart Home
  • Start SmartCallMonitor.
  • Enter the network address of the device in "Tools->Settings->Telephony->AVM Fritz!Box".
    • Hint: For the most configurations it suffices to enter "fritz.box" in the "Server" field. Otherwise you can find the IP address in the Fritz!Box user interface in "Home Network->Network".
  • Enter user name and password of a Fritz!Box user profile, that has the user rights mentioned in step 2.
  • Configure lines in SmartCallMonitor.
    • Use the button "Configure Lines...". A dialog appears where you can map the phone devices to their outgoing phone numbers.
    • This mapping must be done exactly as it is configured in the Fritz!Box menu in "Telephony->Telephony Devices".
    • There you will find all the devices with their outgoing phone number.
    • If there is no outgoing number shown for a device, the Fritz!Box automatically uses the outgoing number for this device, that is configured in the "Telephony->Phone Numbers->Outgoing Number" menu.
    • Hint: This step only is necessary, if you want to start calls directly from SmartCallMonitor.
  • If you have configured the lines as described in step 6 and applied the configuration, you can select the default outgoing line in the SmartCallMonitor settings dialog. This line will be selected automatically on each application startup.
  • On confirming the settings a connection is established with the device.
