Catch-all mailbox *@Domain cannot be accessed via IMAP

Question / Problem

I want to access my shared mailbox *@<domain> via IMAP, but I get an error from the server because it does not accept the * in the user name.

Answer / Solution

In order for the server to accept the user name, put it in quotation marks.

*@domain => "*@domain"
