Question / Problem

There are entries from UltraSearch in the Windows registry, although I use the portable version. Can this be prevented?

Answer / Solution

UltraSearch does not automatically write any entries into the Windows registry. Only in connection with the context menu entries for the Windows Explorer "Start UltraSearch" and "Browse with UltraSearch" are entries stored in the Windows Registry, since inserting the menu entries is unfortunately not technically possible in any other way.

However, the entries are only created if the user activates the corresponding options under "Options > Application > Windows Explorer".

Please note that Windows itself also creates registry entries for started programs, for example, regardless of whether they have been installed or are available as a portable version.
These entries are mostly found in subkeys like "MuiCache" or "MRU" (most recently used).
Unfortunately, we have no influence on when and whether these entries are created by Windows.
