Active Directory group creation fails in setup

Question / Problem

I'm getting an error:

Could not add the mail archive user group to the active directory, because the Active Directory is not accessible. You may want to create the user group manually.

Answer / Solution

This error occurs when the Exchange Server Toolbox could not access the Active Directory. You can manually create the Group Account instead.

  1. Open the Active Directory Users and Computers console.
  2. In the navigation pane on the left, select the Users container
  3. Right-click the Users container, click New, and then click Group
  4. In the Group name text box, type ESTMailArchive
  5. In the Group scope section, select Global
  6. In the Group type section, click Security
  7. Click OK to save your group

Members of this group have full archive access rights and can find every email using the archive search.
